Introducing: City Share

A show about how we move through cities and how cities move us. Ride along with local guides and discover their favorite spots in the city…that you won’t find anywhere else.

When I get to a new city, the first thing I want to do is hop on a bike or scooter and explore. I love seeing the details in the architecture. You can feel the neighborhoods changing as you go from one to the other, passing someone and smelling the perfume they’re wearing. It’s just the best way to get to know a place. Also, sometimes you get the nod. The biker nod. You feel so cool. Yeah.

Sam 0:35

North American cities are changing. They’re becoming less about cars and more about people. And that wasn’t the case 15 years ago.

Speaker 1 0:43

I mean, literally, we had not a single mile of bikeline. It felt like the Wild West out there.

Sam 0:49

There are bikes and scooters waiting for you in many, many cities across North America. You can just get on and ride.

Speaker 2 0:55

It just expands where I’m able to go, the things I’m able to see. People see the way of life and a way our cities should look and feel.

Sam 1:05

I’m Sam Herr. This is City Share, a podcast about how we move through cities.

Speaker 2 1:12

And then someone said, why don’t you get a bicycle?

Sam 1:15

And how cities move us.

Speaker 2 1:17

Boom!

Speaker 3 1:18

Ah, yes.

Speaker 1 1:18

Guess this is a big deal.

Sam 1:21

Local guides are gonna take us through the city and show us some of their favorite spots that you can’t get on Google. I know we have a lot of takes of that. Just really want people to know it’s not gonna be on Google.

Speaker 2 1:35

I’m not a person who likes to goes through like Google and like, oh, let me find interesting spots. I just want to discover this.

Speaker 3 1:42

So this is La Fontaine Park!

Speaker 4 1:44

Chestnut Hill Reservoir.

Speaker 5 1:45

I’m getting closer to the music. Is it over here? Is it in the skate park?

Speaker 2 1:49

Big statues on the top of the building for no reason.

Speaker 3 1:51

How you truly know if you live in Montreal is once you’ve fallen down those stairs.

Speaker 4 1:56

It’s like a sandwich of cereal and ice cream. And then you put a little milk on it.

Sam 2:01

I mean, should we get some?

Speaker 4 2:03

I’m down if you are.

Sam 2:07

City Share is going to help you have more fun in the next city that you travel to.

Speaker 1 2:11

There is a real joy to being on a bike.

Sam 2:13

And also, if you live there, it’s gonna help you with that too.

Speaker 3 2:16

That’s why I like it.

Sam 2:20

Stay tuned for City Share coming soon to wherever you listen to podcasts.

Speaker 2 2:26

I’m just along for the ride and I’m gonna try to enjoy it. Yeah.
